Two sources dedicated to snorkeling have collaborated to create a listing of the top 10 snorkeling resorts in the world. Snorkeling Report and Resort Snorkeller rated more than 360 snorkeling resorts, based on criteria including the location of the resort on the beach, the initial “wow” factor, clarity of the water, the diversity and overall health of the marine life, and how much the resorts contributed back to the marine environment in terms of conservation, education, sustainability and to the benefit of the local community.

Wakatobi came in at the number two spot on the list of more than 360 resorts, behind only a small private island on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. The judges noted that “with its reef flat covered with seagrass and its stunning reef drop off full of coral, Wakatobi Dive Resort’s house reef is a top snorkeling spot. Here, at the heart of Wakatobi National Park, snorkelers will discover vibrant marine life.”
