Private moments
Wakatobi Dive Resort is located in a remote corner of the world. The setting is ideal for reflection and relaxation, and it’s intimate design allows guests to enjoy both private time and convivial socialization. Some of these experiences are best when shared, but others can be quite personal, and even intimate. These can range from morning beach walks to evenings under the stars, and can also include a number of special experiences made possible by the resort staff. We invite you to indulge your imagination and join us on some of these private and very memorable moments that can happen only at Wakatobi.
A tranquil start
You’re standing on the deck of your villa, admiring the ocean view as the sunrise begins to light the shallows and reef in a hundred shades of turquoise and blue. It’s the perfect time for a walk along the beach.
When you arrive back a cheerful “good morning” breaks the silence as two servers appear at the steps and greet you by name. Coffee is poured and as you savor those first lingering sips, the pair sets about the business of laying out the breakfast you’d ordered the previous night.
“It is amazing to be in such a remote location and still experience the highest quality accommodation and service.” Cathy McFarland
There are a variety of fresh fruits, savory breads and eggs cooked just the way you like them. As they say their goodbyes, your significant other emerges, lured by the tempting aroma of the coffee. There is plenty of time to relax and linger over the food and the views before the day’s activities begin.
Barefoot and beachfront
After two morning boat dives and some snorkeling around the jetty, you return to the resort inspired but also hungry. Instead of making your way to the restaurant, you detour to the bungalow for a quick shower and change of clothes, then head for a quiet section of the beach. An umbrella and bamboo mat marks the spot, and soon after you settle into the sand, a server appears and takes a drink request. A few minutes later, your spouse joins you, having taken a bit longer at the bungalow. This arrival is the signal for your server to return with an assortment of picnic fare, all prepared fresh for you by the kitchen team. After it’s all put into place, he departs, and you’re left noshing on a great spread, breathing in the ocean breeze and mulling over what to do, or not do, for the rest of the day.
After days of focusing on beach and ocean, you decide to spend a few hours exploring the local landscape. Donning shoes for the first time in days, you relax for a moment on the verandah of your Bungalow, then right at the appointed time, your personal guide arrives and greets you with a cheerful hello and a smile. The two of you set off along the Onemobaa Nature Trail, which leads into a world of greenery. Your guide seems to know the name of every bird and plant you come across, and is a font of information on the many details of Wakatobi’s ecosystem and inhabitants. He tells you to keep your eyes open for monitor lizards, which can often be seen in an area that has been set aside as habitat for these intriguing animals. Eventually, your walk leads to a native village, where you are swarmed by children with infectious grins, then invited to share a cup of tea with a family who is related to your guide.
