Wakatobi Your Way

A stay at Wakatobi Resort is all about choices

We each travel in different ways, and with different expectations. The team at Wakatobi Resort understands this, and has dedicated themselves to providing the widest possible range of options for personalized guest travel, accommodation and overall vacation experience. Most of our repeat guests are aware of these choices, but we often receive questions from those planning their first visit. Our representatives are always just a phone call or email away, and can help craft your ideal itinerary. To help get you thinking, here are just some of the options and extras available during a visit to our corner of paradise.

Thanks to direct charter flights to the resort’s private airstrip, travel times between Bali and the resort are less than three hours. We operate two flights per week, departing Bali each Monday and Friday morning, returning that same afternoon. This schedule provides our guests more options on the length of their stay, and allows international flights to be scheduled over the weekends before and/or after a resort visit. Guests can stay for a week, add on an extra four days for an 11-night stay, or spend two full weeks. Some have been known to stay for even longer. Monday flights are also designed to mesh with the seven-day cruises of our dive yacht Pelagian. This eliminates delays for passengers moving directly onto Pelagian, and also creates land-and-sea combinations. Guests arrive on Friday for a weekend at the resort prior to a cruise, can enjoy a stay at the resort from Monday until Friday, or spend a second week at the resort before or after the liveaboard trip.

Transitions to and from international flights are made easier and more enjoyable by our airport concierge staff. When you arrive at Bali’s Denpasar Airport, you are greeted by Wakatobi Resort representatives, who assist in all details of your arrival and transfer. Because a majority of international flights arrive between mid-day and evening, we have created partnerships with a number of Bali’s hotels to provide relaxing layovers prior to our morning flights to the resort. After clearing customs, a driver will assist you and convey you to the hotel of your choice. Our concierge team can coordinate a wide variety of additional services and experiences, from dinner reservations and shopping trips to island tours and cultural activities for guests who opt for a longer layover in Bali. Similar arrangements can be made for guests returning from Wakatobi, including a favorite half-day beach, spa and dinner package before evening flights. Read more about Bali layovers.

Choice stays

There are no second-class accommodations at Wakatobi Resort, but guests do have choices. Our Palm Bungalows (a.k.a. the Essentials) provide exceptional value, and while not directly on the beach, are just a few steps away from water views and all resort amenities. Ocean Bungalows (a.k.a Gold Standard) deliver big views of the House Reef and beyond, and include Asian spa-style outdoor showers and a bit more interior space.

Guests looking for the ultimate in waterfront living can select a One-bedroom or Two-bedroom Pool Villa (a.k.a. The Ultimate), which sit right at water’s edge, with expansive private decks. The two-bedroom floor plans include a second full bath, an outdoor spa shower and pool. Villa three also has an infinity pool for those who enjoy a relaxing soak with a refreshing drink as you watch the sunset over the ocean. All Villa guests enjoy special attentions and perks, including a personal butler and private dive guide. Read more about our island style accommodations here.

Add a cruise

Many of our guests choose to add a cruise aboard the Pelagian live-aboard dive yacht before or after a resort stay. Pelagian offers a range of personal touches and luxuries not found on most liveaboard dive boats, and cabins that range from spacious to lavish. Each guest cabin offers single-level beds and separate full-sized baths. The yacht’s master cabin offers a king-size bed, a lounge area with an entertainment system and a rainforest shower.

Ocean options

At Wakatobi Resort, divers and snorkelers aren’t held to rigid schedules. With dozens of sites located close to the resort, boats often return to the dive center after each of the three daily dive excursions—two in the morning, one after lunch, with scheduled night dive(s) throughout the week. This enables avid divers to max out their bottom time, while more casual enthusiasts can sleep in a bit and still enjoy two long, satisfying boat dives each day. In addition, the profiles found at many sites allow a diver to do a deeper dive, stay shallow, or perform multilevel profiles that often extend bottom times to beyond an hour. Sites with shallow reef tops are also ideal for snorkelers, and it is often possible for a diving/snorkeling couple to enjoy the same schedule. Add to this the all-day and nighttime availability of the House Reef and the daytime support of our taxi boat service.
