Flying in comfort & style with Garuda

Our new air charter services with Garuda Indonesia make travel to Wakatobi more comfortable and convenient than ever before.

The beginning of a long-awaited vacation puts most of us in a mood of happy anticipation that can survive airport layovers, security lines and time zone changes. This is especially true when you are on your way to Wakatobi, as we pride ourselves on addressing the small details of travel that make the journey more enjoyable. Things like greeting you on arrival in Bali, assisting with your luggage, and arranging ground transportation, accommodations and sight seeing if a layover in Bali is desired. Our concierge team are known for their ability and willingness to address guests’ special needs, whether it’s tracking down a replacement for a vital but forgotten and hard-to-find personal item, or securing the best table at one of Bali’s most desirable restaurants.

Despite Wakatobi's remote location, travel between Bali and the resort is far easier than to other destinations in the region.

Recently, we’ve added yet another refinement to our travel services, one that will make the final phase of the trip to our island paradise all the more comfortable and convenient. Despite Wakatobi’s remote location, travel between Bali and the resort is far easier than to other destinations in the region. Passengers on Wakatobi charter flights can enjoy a bit more cabin room, along with even more convenient connections, thanks to our recent partnership with Garuda Indonesia.

Our private flight through Garuda is exclusively for guests of Wakatobi and ensures no hassle and comfort for traveling with added dive gear and photography equipment. Guests leave Bali after breakfast and arrive at Wakatobi in time to have lunch, unwind and enjoy the start to a dream vacation.

Guests leave Bali after breakfast and arrive at Wakatobi in time to settle in, have lunch, unwind and hop on the House Reef for a dive or snorkel.

Passengers on Wakatobi charter flights can enjoy a bit more cabin room, along with even more convenient connections as now all flights to the resort are aboard one of Garuda’s brand-new 70-seat turboprop airliners. This aircraft is significantly larger than those used in the past, which will allow for a single flight to handle all arriving passengers, even in times of high traffic. The plane, an ATR-72 600, cruises at better than 500 kilometers an hour, and has an exemplary safety record. Garuda itself is also highly ranked for both safety and on-time service.

Garuda was awarded the World’s Best Cabin Crew 2015 at the 2015 World Airline Awards based on a global customer satisfaction survey conducted by Skytrax of more than 18 million passengers. Garuda is one of only four Indonesian airlines approved by the European Union, and a series of ongoing quality-assurance programs has earned the airline numerous awards and accolades, including recognition by the Centre for Asia-Pacific Aviation as Asia’s leading service airline. In December 2014, Skytrax awarded Garuda a Five-star Airline’s status and named the carrier as one of the world’s top-ranked five-star airlines.

The new flight schedule provides quests with more flexibility when scheduling stays at the resort and trips aboard the dive yacht Pelagian. It was also designed to dovetail with a number of international arrivals and departures at Denpasar International Airport, which can allow many guests to make same-day connections through Bali. “Garuda’s record for maintaining their schedule is exemplary,” says Crispin Jones, who handles Wakatobi’s guest services division. By switching to twice-weekly service, our charter flight has been incorporated into the scheduling of the airline as a regular fixture. As such, we returned to a regular flight departure time from Bali for guests heading to Wakatobi, and also a regular flight arrival time back into Bali for those guests after they check out from our resort,” he says.
